Mint Hill

This is one of the biggest suburbs in Charlotte, NC. It has a wide variety of homes, apartments, and condos ranging from very cheap to very expensive depending on where you are looking to buy or rent a property. However, this part of town does not have much to offer for entertainment or fun things for people who live here to do with their families. The only redeeming quality about this area is its proximity to other parts of the town, making it an ideal location for people working at companies in the Ballantyne Area, Uptown Charlotte, etc. Mint Hill has multiple exits, making it really easy for residents to get anywhere they need to be quick without having to sit in traffic too long, which definitely adds more value than anything else.

Mint Hill was originally known as Latta’s Mill and Little Sugar Creek. The name “Mint Hill” is attributed to a couple of different theories: Mint was either used as a medicinal herb or the favorite hiding place of robbers who would fill their pockets with stolen loot and bury it in the mint hills and sugar creek. In 1755, two brothers, William and David Latta built the first mill on the banks of Little Sugar Creek. It quickly became an important part of Charlotte’s history because everything from flour, cornmeal, animal feed, etc., was ground through its gristmill stones. People began referring to this area as Latta’s Mill, which eventually got shortened into Mint Hill.
The population of Mint Hill is approximately 30 000. There are more than 22 churches here, with several denominations represented. The average age of the people living here is 33 years, with only 10% over the age of 54 and 34% between 25-54. Almost one out of three people living in Mint Hill has a graduate degree which contributes to the high level of education for this area and its low crime rate. People who live here enjoy easy access to many different parts of Charlotte since there are multiple exits off I-485 making it really convenient for commuters without having to sit in traffic too long on their way into work.

The best thing about this area is that it has easy access to all parts of Charlotte due to several exits off I-485. There are also pockets of grassy hillsides and bike paths that make it a great place to go for a walk, run, or bike ride. People living here can enjoy several amenities such as children’s playgrounds, a YMCA center, a splash pad at the Mint Hill Community Center, walking trails, etc. There is also a fairly new nine-hole golf course called Olde Sycamore Golf Club, which caters more to people wanting an easy 9 holes rather than experienced players looking for a real challenge on the golf course.

Mint Hill is famous for its annual Mint Hill Madness, which is a great event that brings everybody together for a day of fun and games. Many different things are going on, from food, dancing, arts and crafts, etc., making this an event you won’t want to miss if you live in Mint Hill or nearby.
