Mid City LA is a safe and quiet neighborhood of Los Angeles that borders Pico-Union, Koreatown, Comstock LA, and Hollywood. Currently, the population of the mid city is 19,664, with a median age of 35 years old. The majority of residents are Hispanic or Asian, while 20% are African American.

Mid City offers many choices when it comes to entertainment. Due to its location near Pico Boulevard, an active nightlife thrives. There are many bars, nightclubs, and lounges to keep the local population entertained. It is also home to the historic Dunbar Hotel, once known as “The Negro Crosstown Motel,” where celebrities like Louis Armstrong used to stay. Mid City is a very walkable neighborhood with easy access to public transportation. It is served by the Mid City neighborhood council, which offers community safety programs for children and families.

There are many historic sites in Mid City, LA that offer a glimpse into the history of African American culture. The Dunbar Hotel was built during the 1920s by Paul Williams, an influential African-American architect who designed more than 700 buildings during his career. It is now run by the city as public housing for seniors and disabled individuals while maintaining its original style. The African American Firefighter Museum in Mid City is home to an impressive collection of historic photos, equipment, and truck dating back to 1892 when the first African American firefighter joined the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Mid City offers many shops and restaurants catering to its diverse population. Korean BBQ Bon Chon Chicken – serving Korean classics like bibimbap and chicken wings is on the list of hot spots in Mid City. Mid City also offers easy access to public transportation. It has bus lines, an L.A. Metro train station (Western & Normandie), and is 10 miles away from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Mid City LA is an ideal location for nightlife with many bars, lounges, and nightclubs. It borders Pico-Union, Koreatown, Hollywood, and Comstock areas home to top-notch entertainment venues. There are several bowling alleys that offer late hours to entertain the local crowd, as well as movie theaters such as The Landmark and Sundance that run first-run art house films. Mid City is home to the historic Dunbar Hotel, an upscale destination for African American celebrities such as Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington.
