Los Angeles County Museum of Art
It is abbreviated as LASMA and was founded in 1961. It was part of the Los Angeles Museum of History but later decided to create a division of its own and was designed by William Pereira. With time, its collections increased and so did the museum`s wealth. They expanded the place and increased the number of buildings it occupied.
Hosting an average of one million visitors annually, the museum is one of the largest in the Western United States.
Exhibitions
The museum showcased its first collections of black artists’ artworks in the year 1971 a few months after it was launched. This exhibition featured the works of Charles White, Timothy Washington, and David Hammons among other artists.
The third most successful exhibition hosted by the museum was held in 1984 where they showcased the interesting works of Vincent van Gogh.
With the new leadership of director Michael Govan, the museum has now focused on showcasing the art of the modern contemporary, and more permanent features of the past. This change has received different reactions from people others embrace the change while the rest criticize it.

Funding
Andrea Rich was applauded for doubling the museum`s net worth to more than $100 million during his reign as the director. He did this by hosting exhibitions that appealed to the general audience hence increasing the attendance rate. In 2008, the museum partnered up with MOCA to increase money received from well-wishers.
- The museum can host up to 1 million people and broke its record in 2015 when it had an attendance of 1.6 million.
